Foundation For Human Rights Initiative and Democracy - FOH-RID
Foundation For Human Rights Initiative and Democracy - FOH-RID is one of the implimenting partners of The Kaicombey Foundation. FOH-RID has received funds and material supports from The Kaicombey Foundation and implemented projects ranging from human rights education and democratization, peace building and social justice. Community mobilization and engagement about thematic issues is among others.
This is the kind of empowerment and support that The Kaicombey Foundation is engaged with Local community based organization, by supporting them take ownership over there own initiatives / projects for sustainability.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
FOH-RID/SL is a local Community Based Organization which is an advocacy organization working in Sierra Leone since 2005.
FOHRID/SL is registered with the Ministry of Rural Development and local Government with registration no. CBO/SL/Kono (026)
VISION
FOH-RID/SL vision Sierra Leone in which Human Rights Human Rights culture and Democratic values shall be upheld strengthened and defended thereby enhancing sustainable Peace and Development.
CORE PROGRAMMES
WOMEN’S RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS
Respect for Human Rights will not be universal until women’s rights are recognized and protected. But around the world, culture and traditional practices continue to subject women to secondary status. All too often violation remains hidden and silence.
FOH-RID is working to break the silence and demand the rights for women everywhere to be respected and upheld.
THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD
Respect for Human Rights begins with the way society treats it children. FOH-RID/SL in collaboration with Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children Affairs is addressing issues relating to Juvenile Justice, child trafficking and child labour
HUMAN RIGHTS, DEVELOPMENT AND DEMOCRACY
Human Rights are the central subject of development and not only freedom from torture but also freedom from hunger. FOH-RID/SL strives to ensure Economic and Social Development of all people.
RIGHTS OF THE DISABLED PERSON
Disabled persons are often marginalized in the society and frequently denied their rights in the communities. In addition, physical restriction bars them from public building, transportation and other services. FOH-RID/SL in collaboration with other partners and Government line ministries are advocating for disability person and enhancing their protection.
